C ShafferUpon arriving in Las Vegas, Lady Luck smiled in my direction. With the help of my manager, Kate Porter, I was able to connect with my new agent, Donna Taylor. Donna helped me catch the eye of the well established Charlie Shaffer Trio. Charlie's talent and professionalism gave me the wings I needed to become a major player in the Las Vegas Lounge scene. While working with Charlie's Trio, we performed at all of the Howard Hughes properties including The Sands Hotel in the Regency Lounge, The Desert Inn Hotel, the Frontier Hotel and the Landmark Hotel.

Band photoAfter 4 1/2 years with Charlie, I was ready to lead my own band. By knowing the most talented musicians in Las Vegas I had my choice of the best and I was able to establish the Tyler Murray Band. Great name, huh? The new band was an instant success. We worked the Summa Chain (Howard Hughes Corp.) for the next three years including a year at the MGM Grand Hotel.

These years were a great time in my life full of personal and professional growth. Yet there was something else calling me. I felt I need to expand my musicianship. With another full tank of gas, I packed it up and headed for Los Angeles.
